Nadir Diwan-Beghi Madrassah
Nadir Diwan Beghi is an ensemble consists of a madrassah, a Hauz pond and khanaka Sufi hospice and monastery. It was built for the rest of Sufi saints and poets. But a caravansary was added. It is located in the eastern part of Layab-i Hauz Square. They constructed this ensemble on the orders of vizier Nadir Diwan Beghi who served for Imam Quli Khan, one of the most powerful rulers of Ashtakhanid Dynasty.
The most interesting legend connected to this ensemble is the unhappiness of the fiance of Nadir Diwan Beghi. She had been gifted just a pair of earrings on her wedding. Not realising how precious they were, she was astounded when vezier told her that Nadir Diwan Beghi had been constructed with one of her earrings which she assumed had been stolen. She was politely asked to thank God for what had been built for her. The ensemble showcases a lot of Arabic inscriptions with beautiful flower borders. It holds a good number of hujras (rooms) for its students.
