Ark of Bukhara- not just a military fort, this massive castle speaks volumes about the history of this region. Elongated in a rectangular shape from the west to East, the Ark of Bukhara cocoons a city within a city. The two 18th Century towers welcome you at the entrance of the castle. According to author Abubakar of Narshakhi, Art of Bukhara has a fate of being destroyed and rebuilt many times. It was first built by "Biden" ruler of Bukhara.
This UNESCO World Heritage site has many mosques and rooms built in its lap. It rests with the history of invaders and brutality of incidents. The most well-preserved mosque is in remembrance of 40 girls who had fallen prey to slaughter orders of Emir Nasrullah Khan.
Museums holding regional history is a treat to visit and watch. This archaeological reserve has housed more than 3000 people including rulers, craftsmen, military officials and their families.
