Ismail Samanid Mausoleum
The Samanid Mausoleum sits just outside the Bukhara Historic Urban Center in the park. This piece of artwork is considered to be the most exclusive Persian architecture of 9th and 10th century. It rests with the remains of family members of the Samanid Dynasty.It was built as a resting place of Ismail Samani- one of the most influential Emirs of the Samanid Dynasty. It stands with the most modern architecture made up of bricks and mud. Samanid Mauseloum is one of the oldest artefacts of the heritage of this region. It is the only monument that survived the strict orthodox laws of not constructing mausoleums over burial places. It had also survived the Genghis Khan attack as it had been buried in mud. Post the attacks, it was rediscovered in 1937 by Soviet archaeologist V.A.Shishkin. It took 2 years to excavate the mausoleum.This shrine has sacred value according to the locals. They request their concerns to a mullah sitting behind the shrine. In return, he answers maintaining the secrecy of the petitioner.
