About Galata Tower

Just to the north of the golden horn is the tallest stone structure, the Galata Tower, which gives a breathtaking and panoramic view of the city as a whole. Looming over the city, this thick tower of stone blends seamlessly with the skyline. The Galata tower was earlier built as a defense wall and was used to keep surveillance over the Golden Horn. This tower today is opened to the public and houses a cafeteria within it, apart from this there is a small shop within that sells souvenirs.
