The synagogue is a reminder of the jewish community. It was built during the 19th Century. As per one of the famous stories in Djerba, a holy stone fell to earth here denoting the site to be religiously important. There is some historical evidence that states that something else was there in the 16th Century. Inside the structure, there is fine paneling.
Taking a taxi from Houmt Souk to El Ghriba Synagogue is the easiest mode of transportation to the sites.
