Djerba Crocodile Farm is a part of Djerba Explore Park, which is located on a small island of South Tunisia. The park is less than 10 minutes away from the main island and around 22 kilometers from the city center of Djerba. Visitors can explore the park, as well as the crocodile farm throughout the year. However, the best time to go is between July and August. The park mainly has three zones and they are a museum, called ‘Lella Hadria’, a traditional Tunisian village, and the crocodile farm. Apart from these three, there are also some restaurants, cafes, souvenir shops, and small picturesque shops. The best way to get down at the park is by taxi or cab from the city center or anywhere else.
Crocodile Farm, as well as Djerba Explore Park, remains open to the public every day throughout the year. However, the timing detail changes season-wise. According to the website, the crocodile farm has 400 Nile crocodiles. It is the largest of its kind in the Mediterranean. The farm is housed in a fortress, that looks like a desert architecture. To accompany the tourists, there is always North African music. There is a crocodile nursery in the village, where people can see baby crocodiles. The crocodiles in the farm stay in the lagoons and they laze on the banks of the water. In respect to the size, some of the crocodiles measure up to three meters. It is advised to the tourists not to miss the feeding time of the crocodiles at 5:00 p.m. every day.
