For “Swiss Family Fun” head to Trümmelbach Falls in Switzerland they are the largest subterranean waterfalls in Europe, located in the Lauterbrunnen Valley. They carry the glacial runoff of 20,000 litres of water per second from the Jungfrau, Eiger, and Mönch mountains to the valley below. Not just one waterfall, the falls are ten glacier-fed waterfalls. Unlike other waterfalls, the Trümmelbach Falls are in caves inside the mountain, accessible by a tunnel funicular and lit stairs. You will be able to hear the thunder and roar of the falls inside the mountain before you see them. The falls are the only underground glacier waterfalls humanly-accessible by tunnels, paths, and platforms. Feel the spray on your face, or watch the water from behind panes of glass cut into the rock walls. Be sure to visit during April to November when the falls are open to visitors.
