Standing at 860 meters above sea level, the Gurten is the local mountain of the city of Bern and a constant tourist attraction and a rightful one too! An absolutely fascinating and mesmerizing sight is what greets the visitors when they reach the top of the mountain which can easily be accessed by a train or even on foot. One can easily catch a view of the entire city of Bern from the peak and be awestruck by it. Apart from that, the mountain also boasts of an observation tower that helps extend the view of the tourist even further. However, that is not all the Gurten is famous for! The mountain also happens to be a delight for children as they can live it up on the playground and miniature railway to their heart's content. For adults, the mountain also offers a toboggan run, newly opened in 2016 where even the grown-ups can have fun! What's more, if you are someone who loves food then the Gurten also plays host to two restaurants: the self-service restaurant "Tapis Rouge" and the a la carte restaurant "Gurtners."
