About Museum of King Jan III's Palace at Wilanow

Get intimidated by the immense size of the brightly colored yellow and white buildings and the surrounding coiffured courtyard filled with flowers of this splendid 17-Century Baroque villa of King Jan III. Since the Royal lifestyle from the pre-war period through time, luckily not damaged by the two world wars. This splendid representation of Polish history is one of the world's first public museums. This palace is ornate on the yellowish exterior with colorfully painted reliefs as well as figures on top and on the walls. The interior is even more elaborate than the exterior. Of particular interest are the Crimson Room, Etruscan Study, the Royal apartments, as well as the Gallery of Polish portraits. Set in formal gardens (two-level terrace whose sculptures depict Love) and landscaped grounds, Wilanów is truly an architectural jewel. Period rooms adorned with art treasures including a set of Canaletto’s depicting scenes of Poland, Polish art and furniture treasures are stately presented within each room. Intricately inlaid flooring is amazing. Statues throughout the residence reflect the recognition of many artisans. The art and sculptures are simply incredible and not to be missed.
