As you enter this wonderfully singular Warsaw museum through a small magical door, a spread of a few hundred tiny homes unfolds and takes you back to a nostalgic journey to childhood. Look at it as a time capsule/panorama of social history because so many of the "houses" are not houses, but daily life from a bygone era. Stop and really LOOK! The diminutive dwellings show what Eastern Europe manufactured for their children in the 60's and 70's too. The museum gives a snapshot of a period in time. Featuring over 120 historical doll sets, the Dollhouse Museum is a Soviet-style art-deco building in the Palace of Culture and Sciences.
Detailed miniature worlds, reflecting exactly and in detail a trivial part of life - households, stores, craft-shops, schools - from the real worlds of the respective period. A Dollhouse for everyone's taste, old as well as recent. Some of them carry a proper theme and most of them are adorned with impressive details. The diversity of houses is greatly styled and tiny details are just fantastic. Amazing collection of Dollhouses, but not like today's mass produced 'Barbie' type. Many of these are handmade one-of-a-kind little pieces of history and art. Exhibits from the era before mass production show varying levels of craftsmanship from rudimentary to skillful woodworking with amazing details. While some of them appear to have been made lovingly by parents, others by skilled craftsmen and miniaturists. It is wonderfully presented in this unique little gem of a museum! After enjoying the experience, don’t forget to take some Lilliputian souvenirs with you back home!
