The Inka Museum is run by the San Antonio Abad University. It is known as the best museum in Cusco and has a good collection of ceramics, textiles, metal and gold work, jewelry, pottery, Inca wooden drinking vessels, skulls which were deformed by trepanning, and tombs containing several mummies. The Museum is also known as the Admiral’s House, after the first owner, Admiral Francisco Aldrete Maldonado. The building was badly damaged in the 1650 earthquake, which was later rebuilt by Pedro Peralta de los Ríos, whose crest hangs above the porch.
• Keep your ticket handy as it will be required to view the exhibitions upstairs.
