Humantay Lake is a small turquoise glacial lake made by the melting snow of the Humantay Mountain. Humantay Mountain is located at 4,261 meters above sea level. The trek toward Humantay Lake is worth the effort to experience the incredible and majestic places. Tour along the Salkantay trek and the sacred mountain, which is the second largest mountain in Cusco. It is possible to swim in the lake but not for long as the temperature is only 5º C. Humantay Lake temperatures can dip to 5º C during the day and drop down to 0º C at night.
The only way to reach Humantay Lake is with a tour operator. There is no public transportation going into the park, but finding a tour is not difficult. Just walk around the Plaza de Armas, and ask for tour operators. It takes approximately 1 hour and 45 minutes to climb up the mountain from Soraypampa.
• It is advisable to take a backpack with some warm clothes like (scarf, sweaters, rain jacket, gloves)

• Carry and use walking sticks
• Pack a hat, sunglasses, and sunscreen to protect against the sun
