With the idea to promote cultural prominence in Monaco, Prince Charles III constructed the concert hall at the back of the Monte Carlo Casino into a performance area. In 1898-1899, the casino was remodeled to make it more suitable for opera and named as Opera De Monte Carlo. The opera is international renown and has hosted many world-famous concerts and singers, and also 45 world premiere productions of operas. The Beaux Arts architectural style of the building is magnificent, and so are the interiors with swinging chandeliers and two royal boxes at the sides. The operas hosted here are still some of the best productions in the world, and its patrons are the real high society of Monaco. The Monte Carlo Philharmonic and Les Ballets de Monte Carlo regularly perform here. It is an experience that must not be missed if one has the opportunity. Here you get the freshly created period costumes, fantastic wigs, and makeup, the melodious voices of beautiful, talented singers. Technology and light are used to enhance the decor. If there are no rehearsals in progress, admission to the Opera House is free. Anyone who is a fan of mythologically inspired decorative adornment will have a visual feast here.
