About Museum Of Antique Automobiles

Passions create history, so did the endearment of Prince Rainier III towards cars. He established this enormous museum of antique automobiles. The museum of antique automobiles is a  historical monument now. The Museum stores an unbelievable collection of cars from a cart of the medieval age to modern day super luxurious Rolls-Royce. Despite not being a  car lover, you will be amazed at the exclusive treasure of the types of vehicles on the road. 

A total of 85 cars are housed in this museum, including the rare De Dion Bouton 1903, Renault 12, Torpedo 1911, PanhardLevassor 1913, Ford T 1924, Peugeot Quadrilette 1921 and many others including some of the top luxurious models from Jaguar, Rolls Royce, Maserati, and Mercedes. This collection also has a particular car which the Prince used for his wedding and has become a collector's item now. The strawberry red Mercedes Benz from 1956 and the vehicle Grace Kelly and Cary Grant were driving in the movie "To catch a thief" are unique attractions here. You will also fall in love with many expensive cars, each with a fantastic history attached to it. The museum is suitable for all ages and is the perfect size to hold even the younger ones attention. The rare De Dion Bouton 1903 and the car the Prince used for his wedding is must-see here. 

How to reach

  • Bus numbers 5 and 6 stop at the Centre Commercial Fontvieille. The museum is a 3-minute walk from there. Fare is 2 Euros.

Tips

  • This museum is near the Museum of Stamps and Coins and a short distance from the Monte Carlo Casino and Monte Carlo Harbor. You can plan to visit all the three places at a time.
  • At the "Parking de Fontvieille" you get direct access to the Terrasses de Fontvieille by lift and escalator.
  • You can buy a combined ticket for the museum and visit the palace as well. 
  • Book tickets online to save money.
  • Wear comfortable shoes since you need to walk a lot.
  • Carry drinking water as it is not available.
