Shukkei-en Garden is one of the most beautiful gardens in Hiroshima. Located on the banks of the Ōta River, this miniature garden is an oasis of peace and tranquillity. It was laid out in the year 1620. Earlier, it was the home of Emperor Meiji. It was opened to the public in 1940. The garden survived the attack in 1945 but had to undergo renovations due to the heavy damage caused. The garden is circular with a bridge across. There are small streams and ponds dotting the garden. In summers, you can see some fresh green sprout trees while in the autumn you can witness foliage. The cherry blossoms are illuminated in the spring, giving it all a romantic glow. The garden is surrounded by tea houses and their tea ceremonies are worth joining. The Sensui-tei shop is famous for its tea. You can grab a quick snack too. This garden is a must-see attraction for all nature lovers.
