Popularly known as the Carp Castle, this flatland castle was built in 1589 by Mori Terumoto. The castle is five stories tall and is surrounded by a canal. Like other monuments, this castle also was destroyed in the atomic bomb attack. It was later renovated with an attractive wooden facade. The castle has a museum depicting the history of Hiroshima emperors. The top floor of the castle is a must visit to see the panoramic views of the entire city.
The castle has three trees that surprisingly survived the atomic blast. A willow, holly, and a eucalyptus tree. Check out the castle at night when it is lit up in colorful displays that switch with the season.
The Castle is in the middle of the city and is a 15-minute walk from the city centre
