One of the oldest forts in Delhi stands next to the Delhi Zoo and is known as the Purana Qila. It is a lovely complex which is quite forgotten by the people of Delhi as it does not see many visitors. Despite this, it is well maintained and is progressing day by day. It is a serene place to visit and spend some quality time with your loved ones. There are beautiful gardens inside the Purana Qila which make the complex look even more beautiful and refreshing. The walls of Purana Quila have three gates namely: the Humayun Darwaza, Talaqi Darwaza, and Bara Darwaza and are surrounded by a moat, which was fed by river Yamuna. This was built by Sher Shah Suri, the founder of the Suri Dynasty. He defeated Humayun in 1540, naming the Fort Shergarh, later he added several more structures in the complex during his five-year reign. You can head to this beautiful and secluded fort to spend some peaceful time with your loved ones and enjoy the architecture of the structures inside.
To reach Purana Qila comfortably, take the Delhi metro till Pragati Maidan Station(Blue Line). One can also hire a cab to reach this beautiful destination.
