The Lotus Temple in Delhi is the most visited building in the world. It was built as a Bahá'í House of Worship, famous for its shape.
The temple is open to everyone, regardless of religion. In line with Bahá'í scripture, the temple is void of pictures, statues of images. There are also no pulpits or altars as part of its architecture. Visitors may stand behind simple lecture stands. An essential feature is its nine-sided circular shape. The Lotus Temple creates this look with 27 marble petals arranged in clusters of three. The innermost walls have a glass and steel ceiling to give the appearance of an open roof. Nine doors open onto manicured gardens, surrounded by nine pools.
The lotus flower is a symbol of divinity, purity, and beauty. It’s a must-see to anyone visiting Delhi.
