Jantar Mantar is situated in the Connaught Place region of the city of New Delhi. It consists of 13 architectural astronomy instruments. The site is one of five built by Maharaja Jai Singh II of Jaipur, from 1723 onwards, as he was given the task of revising the calendar and astronomical tables. The chief function for the observatory was to compile astronomical tables and to predict the times and movements of the sun, moon, and planets. The 13 different instruments are all used for different purposes in figuring out the sun, moon, and planet cycles, and other astronomy measurements. This place is a visual treat and a good hangout spot for the visitors.
Close to Rajiv Chowk (Blue/Yellow Line) and Patel Chowk (Yellow Line) metro stations on Sansad Marg, Jantar Mantar is just a 10 minutes walk from the metro stations. You can also take an auto or a rickshaw from the metro station to reach here.
