Hol Chan Marine Reserve is the most visited snorkeling and diving arena in Belize. Splash into one of Belize’s popular dive spots and enjoy an adventurous snorkeling tour to Hol Chan Marine Reserve and Shark Ray Alley. Swim among vibrant coral reefs and feel the thrill of snorkeling among a multitude of harmless nurse sharks and stingrays. Part of the Belize Barrier Reef, the reserve covers almost 3 square miles and is divided into different zones according to marine habitat. The most popular zone is Hol Chan or where all sorts of marine life are present, making it one giant aquarium. The channel has beautiful live corals and a huge variety of fish that includes nurse sharks, hogfish, snappers, angelfish, turtles, and many other species. Shark Ray Alley is another popular zone that is a shallower area where nurse sharks and stingrays are plentiful. Grass beds and mangroves make up the other areas of the reserve and can be explored only with a personalized expert guide.
The best way to visit is by a boat ride from the Belize City to Caye Caulker island and from there, a boat ride to Hole Chan Snorkeling site.
