The Community Baboon Sanctuary was established with the goal to protect the habitat of the Black Howler Monkeys. The sanctuary has been home to the endangered Black Howler Monkey and other species for many years. The black howler monkey or the baboon is the main concern animal here with the idea of preserving and providing a healthy breeding and growing grounds. It offers a unique opportunity for visitors to experience the lush green rain forest and watch the Black Howler Monkeys in their natural habitat. There are wonderful nature hikes, night tours through the rain forest and river tours that you can opt for. The trip is both adventurous and educational and you will thoroughly enjoy this unforgettable experience.
It is a 40 minutes drive from Belize city and can be reached by taxi. You can also rent a car and drive yourself to the location.
