Bacab is both a nature reserve and a theme park that has beautiful hiking trails and winding waterways. It is situated on more than 500 acres of jungle and is a favorite destination for nature enthusiasts. The main attraction is the huge swimming pool with a waterfall and the possibility to explore the wildlife surrounding it. This place was opened majorly for cruise-ship tourists, but when there are not many ships or people around, Bacab is absolutely serene. Go for a nature hike and observe multiple bird sightings. You could also get a glimpse of other residents of the jungle like the monkeys or crocodiles. The best way to explore the reserve is on horseback, by kayak or by mountain bike. There is a restaurant that serves American, Caribbean and Belizean cuisine and also a nice gift shop to buy souvenirs from.
It is almost 22 Km from the city center, so you can reach by taxi via the Northern Highway and Philip Goldson Highway. Taking a guided tour is also a good option as they provide round-trip transport.
