The Frauenkirche is one of the most distinctive churches in Germany. The elegant onion domes of the twin towers of the Church are an important symbol of the city of Munich. Frauenkirche is located in Munich’s Old Town close to Marienplatz. The Cathedral was heavily damaged in World War II, but it was later rebuilt and renovated in several restoration phases. The south tower of the cathedral offers a breath-taking view across the city of Munich and the magnificent Alps Mountains. You can also see the legendary devil’s footprint on the floor of the church. Frauenkirche has a lot of religious and historical significance and is a must visit when you are in Munich.
Take the subway U3 or U6 from Hauptbahnhof to Odeonsplatz and walk for a few minutes to reach Frauenkirche.
You can also go by S-Bahn S1, S2, S3, S4, S6, S7, S8 from München Central Station to Marienplatz station. The cathedral is a few minutes walk from here. Use the short trip tickets starting from 1.70 EURO for up to 3 stations with S-Bahn and U-Bahn or 6 stations with bus or tram.
