English Garden is one of the largest urban gardens in the world today. Since it's opening in the 1830s, it has undergone constant changes throughout the years and is now a top tourist destination of Munich. It offers multiple leisure time activities like cycling, jogging, soccer, and other recreational games. The highlight of the park is the Monopteros which was added in the later years. There are many activities here to keep you entertained and is an ideal spot for a family outing. The huge beer garden is very popular and so is the Japanese teahouse located on an artificial island surrounded by a stream on the south end of the park. Filled with shady pathways, brooks, ponds, and landscapes, the Englischer Garten is a much-needed break away from the city bustle.
Take a tram (route 16) from Hauptbahnhof to Tivolistrasse and walk about 5 minutes to the garden.
You can reach by subway U4 from Hauptbahnhof to Prinzregentenplatz and walk for one minute to reach the destination.
The bus routes 58, 68 and 54 also go to the Englischer Garten. It is only 3 Km from the city center and can also be reached by taxi. The cost may be up to 6 EUR.
