Asamkirche, also known as Asam Church, is a truly magical place. Although it is not as massive as other churches in the city, it is one of the oldest and most beautiful buildings in Munich. It was originally built by the Asam brothers who were the most important church architects of Germany. The church is known for its amazing interiors and architecture. It was initially built as a private church for the brothers and was erected right next to their home. The people of Munich weren’t happy about not being able to use the church and they successfully forced the Asam brothers to open the building to the public. Located in close proximity to Sendlingerstraße, one of the city's major shopping places, you can explore the surroundings and do some shopping after you have visited the Asam church.
Take the subway U1/U2. There are buses every 7 minutes from Hauptbahnhof. It is under 1 km from the city center and can be reached by foot or bicycle.
You can take a taxi via Schwanthalerstraße and Sonnenstraße. It will cost you 2 EURO to 2.5 EURO.
