About St. Paul's Church

St Paul's Church (Paulskirche) is a classical style monument built from 1789 to 1833 for Lutheran worshippers. The Protestant church that houses a museum was Frankfurt's largest hall and known for its historical significance as this is where Germany's kings and emperors have been crowned since 1253. The first democratic parliamentary of Germany was also held here. The 150-year old elliptical building decorated with red brick was heavily damaged during the world war in 1944 and was reconstructed in 1988 to 1991 as a symbol of the new country. The church now hosts literary events, exhibitions and ceremonies.
