The Humble Administrator's Garden is the most famous of the south-eastern gardens. It is the largest garden in Suzhou, built in the early 16th century, and is dominated by ponds and lakes. The garden consists of Eastern, Central and Western sections as well as some residential areas of the former owners. The sheer hills, green grasses, dense bamboo pine forests, and winding streams are all some of the highlights of the eastern section. The Lotus Pool in the central section is a sight during summers, with the pond filled with lotus flowers in full bloom. For a day to highlight the natural beauty in Suzhou, this garden is the best place to view it.
