About The Chinese National Silk Museum

China National Silk Museum is located near to the West Lake in Hangzhou. The building has a grand entrance and its spacious halls bring to life the exhibits which are arranged in glass containers or mannequins.  It is one of the first state-level museums in China and the largest textile and costume museums in the world. The Museum is divided into a prologue hall, cultural relics hall, folk customs hall, sericulture hall, silk making hall, silk fabrics hall, printing and dyeing hall, modern achievements hall and Youyi shopping store and display more than one thousand modern and cultural items.

How to reach

Take bus no. 12, 31, 42, 87 or 133, and get off at Silk Museum Station.

  • Visitors are not allowed to enter after 04:45 p.m.
  • On Monday during a holiday, the museum is open from 09:00 a.m. to 05:00 p.m.
  • Children need to accompanied at all times.
  • Wheelchair accessibility.
  • Do not touch exhibits.
  • Outside eatables are not allowed.
  • ID may be asked for discounted tickets.
  • Baggage may be checked in at the entrance.
