Philharmonic Fountain Park, which is also known as Gubernator’s Park or Governor’s Park locally, is a green zone near the central old town of Baku. Established at the beginning of the eighteenth century, there is a story related to it that a ship’s captain brought a sack of soil from Iran and added it in the base. After expansion in the early twentieth century, a summer pavilion was added here. In 2007, a gothic style fountain was added on orders of President Ilham Aliyev. designed by the French company Inter Art, as the central attraction. This is a picture-perfect location with the view over the city wall and the beautiful gates, with the songs of birds filling the ear. The place is frequented by local couples and tourists visiting the old town.
The place is 400 meters from the city center, and you may reach the place by walking for five minutes through Kichik Qala.
