Bibi-Heybat Mosque is a recreated version of a mosque demolished in 1930 by the Soviet forces. It was built with unique architecture in the early 1990s after Azerbaijan gained independence from the USSR, with several highly-reflective windows reflecting the Caspian Sea in front of it. This shia mosque was built in honor of Ukeyma Khanum, the grand-daughter of the Prophet. It is said that her tomb is among the four in the center of the building. This place is an important pilgrimage of the local shia muslims, and non-muslims who respect the religion are also welcome. The carpeted prayer room, jewel green walls, gorgeous stained glass windows done in the Sheki style(made without nails or glue, where the pieces fit together like a puzzle), are the major tourist attractions here.
Take the bus no. 125 from city center and walk to the place. Alternatively, you may take a cab and reach by E119 or Bibiheybat Yolu.
