The people of Azerbaijan take pride in their carpet-weaving skills as the traditional art of Azerbaijani carpet weaving has been recognized by UNESCO. It is reflected in the National Carpet Museum, one of the greatest handicraft museums in the area, which was built to celebrate this achievement. The new building on Baku’s seafront park is modeled after a rolled carpet itself, and it displays the largest collection of Azerbaijani carpets along with rug items of various materials from different time periods. It also has a nice collection of ceramic, metal works, jewelry and applied art-works. The attached shop is one of the best places to buy a great carpet with nice craftsmanship and fair pricing.
The place is 1 km away from the city center. Walk through the old city and the sea-side road via Kichik Qala to reach the place in 15 minutes.
