About Museo del Futbol Sudamericano

South American continent is synonymous with passion for football. Paraguay, too, shares the passion for the game. South American Football Museum (Museo del Futbol Sudamericano) is dedicated to all the soccer lovers of the world. This thematic museum was built in the year 2000. It has an area of 1,500 square meters. It has more than 1,800 items on display depicting the rich history of this popular game. The exhibits include photos, graphics, figures, jerseys, flags, memorabilia of all prominent clubs of various countries, and also cups and trophies of various competitions. Prominent countries amongst them are Argentina, Brazil, Uruguay, etc. There are multimedia centers inside which are interactive in nature. The soccer is in the blood of most of the South American nations. This museum is a salute to all those enthusiastic fans who have brought this game to this height. It is also a salute to all the clubs, staff and their players who toiled day and night to make this game a passion for the people and the nation as a whole. There is a giant-sized football where one can enter and view a panoramic 360-degree film about the creation of the South American Football Confederation. The museum is an enriching experience for all.

How to reach

Walking is not recommended because the museum is located at about 15 km from the city center (Olivia).

The Uber from the city center (Olivia) will take 20 to 25 minutes and charge 45 Gs to 60 Gs depending on the time and the traffic.

By bus from the city center (Olivia) - Since the sports stadium is on the way to the airport, bus no. 30 plying on Autopista Silvio Pettirossi road and going to the airport can drop one near the stadium, situated on Avenida Sudamericano. Also, buses plying towards Avenida Gral. Aquino can be used. One can get down near Aero Parking and walk down to the stadium. The fare would be a maximum of 5 Gs.

Tips

  • Since the museum tour is guided, reservations will be required.
  • The reservation for the tour may be done through phones also.
  • Guides are helpful though they tend to rush at times. 
  • The Convention Hall of the Museum is used for nonsports related seminars too. Hence, do not get offended by seeing a seminar on other subjects.
  • There is no shop inside to buy the souvenirs.
  • Cups and Trophies of famous tournaments are the replicas of the original.
  • Toilets are available inside.
  • Since the airport and the museum are quite close to each other, the museum visit can be clubbed with departure.
