About Mongolian State Academic Theater of Opera and Ballet

The Russians constructed the Opera House in 1932. The State Opera & Ballet Theatre is a pink color building at a walkable distance from the Sükhbaatar Sq. It's usually closed in August. Mongolian original operas comprise of the Three Fateful Hills by famous playwright D Natsagdorj, and the more new Chinggis Khaan, by B Sharav. Other compositions include a new and extended version of Carmen, plus plenty of Puccini and Tchaikovsky. A plank outside the house lists shows for the current month in English. Advance purchase is worthwhile for favorite shows because tickets are limited, so it's likely to get a good seat if you book early.
