About Church of St. Clement of Ohrid

The architecture of the Orthodox Church is a modern architectural marvel. In 1972, the architect Slavko Brezovski designed this church with only domes and arches. It took almost 18 years to become fully operational. The main church is dedicated to Saint Clement of Ohrid. A painting of Jesus Christ covers an area of 75 square meters. This is massive and looks very attractive. Beautiful icons and frescos on walls and the roof magnify the beauty of this church. They have been painted by contemporary artists of Macedonia namely Danevski, Spirovski, and Jovan Petrov. The central lighting inside the church is done by a massive chandelier weighing 5 tons. It has 400 bulbs. The natural light comes through huge window glasses of the dome. They have crystalline flexible films on them to control the amount of direct sunlight entering the church. The bell tower located near the entrance of the church has three metallic bells weighing 1,000, 500 and 300 kg. People have found the look of this church to be a mix of Christian, Muslim, and modern and yet very attractive.
