Riga is the Art Nouveau capital of the world and to check out this art form, head over to the Alberta Iela (Alberta Street). The street is known for its Art Nouveau apartment buildings. Many of these buildings were designed by the famous architect, Mikhail Eisenstein. The street is a must visit for art, history, and architecture enthusiasts. Photography buffs will go crazy clicking photos of the architectural details. Eight buildings on the street have been recognized as the architectural monuments of state significance. Each house located in Alberta Street is a unique construction achievement of the 20th Century; moreover, the street was built within a rather short period — from 1901 to 1908. The façade of each house has decorative figurines, jutting balconies, columns and other such elements covered in abstract curls in keeping with the best traditions of Art Nouveau.
It is 3.6 km away from the Riga City Center.
