About Temples Of Luang Prabang

 

Narrating fables of the great triumph of South East Asia by recreating almost similar temples destroyed in a Chinese strafe, this Unesco World Heritage has gained acclaim globally. 

The Temples of Luang Prabang are in the Northern Laos peninsular mountain region at the heart of a peninsula formed by the confluence of the rivers, the Mekong and the Nam Khan. These are a group of 30 beautifully carved Buddist temples that are home to many monks and gives shelter to the followers. This monastery also marks importance as being the home to the famous Buddhist monk, abbot Ajahn Saisamut. 

 Wat Xieng Thong temple with lavishly gold decorated exterior and interior with red bad black lacquer is known to be the most famous temple of the cluster. The Phra Bang, highly buddhas idol from the 14th century that has made its way in to more recently constructed Haw Pha Bang located on the grounds of the Royal Palace Museum grounds was erected and placed at the grounds of the temples of Laung. For visitors to experience a mesmerizing sunset into the river nearby, The Chomsi is recommended. Just overlooking the Mekong, Chomsi is located at the top of Mount Phousi. A Famous spot for hiking and enjoying the evening sun create a rainbow of colors around the scenic valley. The famous wooden masks are kept at the temple, used for the “Dance of the masks” during the time of the new year festivities season is a common attraction for visitors coming here. Wooden masks are provided to each one participating in this exhilarating display of spirituality and faith towards the divine.

 

The Luang Prabang temples are a mirror to the French colonial architecture and  Buddhist preachings. With around 30 Buddhist temples in the entire vicinity, every inch of the area exuberates architectural affluence and designing strength. 

Adorned with ornamental roofs and mural sand stenciling, the Laotian culture is boldly depicted at each wall of the many temples here. Home to Buddhist monks and a traveler’s paradise to witness the aesthetic Buddhist relics.
