PHA TAD KE BOTANICAL GARDENS are created on land which was once a royal hunting lodge and has a variety and science in abundance and excellent explanations of massive bamboo. It's in continuous development for about 20 years but it functional for the public for only 2 years. Everything in the garden is well organized and the plants labelled. You will find a ginger garden with plants in flower and several gardens with plants which are used for traditional and medicinal use. There's a wide range of limestone habitat walk which has ferns, orchids, cycads, figs etc. This also gives you a splendid view on the side of a hill over the Mekong. You can stroll from one viewpoint to another over the gardens through the Bamboo garden and get to the gigantic lily pond and cafe pavilion. Where you can take a break and have lunch and trust me it's very delicious with refreshing drinks.
To reach PHA TAD KE BOTANICAL GARDENS you have to take a boat, from Luang Prabang. The boat leaves every hour to the garden (from 9 am to 4 pm), and comes back to Luang Prabang every hour (from 10:30 am to 5:30 pm).
