About MORNING MARKET

Morning Market is a place where you will find any and everything right from fresh fruits to frogs. It may sound a little disturbing but it's very much common in Laos to bite grilled insects like grasshoppers or cicadas can satisfy your curiosity. It's advisable to visit the market early in the morning, as the market offers a wide variety of delicacies, such as seafood, frogs, or snakes etc. As you stroll through the bustling market you will find out how the locals try harder to live the livings.  Make sure when you buy meat or fish as both are rarely refrigerated. Again here you will find souvenirs, clothes etc which will remind you of your time spent in Laos.

Must See

Numerous stalls with loads of selling items like foods, fruits, spices, whiskey etc

How to reach

To reach to the Morning Market can either take a car or tuk-tuk to the alley between Main St. (Sisavangvong Rd.) and Mekong River, Luang Prabang 0600, Lao, from which you can walk and explore at your leisure.

Tips

  • Please make sure you are safe, from danger aside from pickpockets or the rare opportunistic theft. So you can take the usual precautions — like keeping your belongings close.
  • I wouldn't suggest you bargain prices down as we know that most of the Lao make their little profit from selling their goods; plus, most of them come from humble backgrounds.
  • It's advisable to bring your own shopping bags as Southeast Asia has a major plastic pollution problem.
