About Bamboo Bridge

Bamboo bridges are set across the scenic beauty of the Mekong near Luang Prabang. The speciality about this bridge is they have washed away each year when the river floods. and then again it is rebuilt within a week when the flood subsides. There is two bamboo bridge built over the Nam Khan river. You will find it a very calm and peaceful walk here once the weather is fine, particularly late in the afternoon and early evenings, this place becomes the hangout for the locals. People just come here for walks with friends, families etc or just to chill and admire its beauty itself.

How to reach

The bamboo bridge is located right over the Nam Khan River off Kingkitsarath Rd in Luang Prabang. Hence you have options like either take a car, bike or simply share a tuk-tuk to reach to the place.

Tips

  • You have to pay extra 2000kip if you have a bicycle.
  • It's better to visit the bridge before evening because if you’re taking the bridge, as you'll have to navigate in the dark on the way back.
  • It is best to cross over the Nam Khan River on the Bamboo Bridge in the dry season, as due to rains it gets washed away by high water.
  • For those that like photography ample opportunities will be found in the venture and you are bound to meet a Monk or two with even more opportunities.
  • Lastly, you will also find some store selling jewellery and some beauty products, across the store, and a beautiful restaurant which you may want to try
