One of the most famous ancient historic Roman structure is the Temple of Hercules in Amman. This mysterious temple is woven into many myths, legends, and fairytales in the region. The towering columns of the Temple of Hercules, like the famous Roman Theatre, are visible from downtown Amman. It stands on a platform at the head of the monumental staircase and presents a panoramic view of the city. According to archaeologists, some of the temple's columns were left unfinished as the marble had to be used to build a Byzantine Church nearby. Destroyed in an earthquake, the statue has only three fingers and an elbow. It is a most significant Roman structure in the Amman Citadel worth a visit to unveil the mysteries attached to its legacy.

If you love walking, then, it is better to walk down. It's located along the street to Citadel. Both can be visited together.
