About Al Balad - Downtown Amman

Al-Balad is Amman's historic downtown. It was built on the banks of the ancient Amman River, once regularly flowing but now dried up. It is believed to have been inhabited as far back as 6700 BC. It will be a pleasure to walk through the souks (markets), shops, restaurants mingle with the locals, and also see the historical sites in the modern urban area of al-Balad.
