About Galleria Borghese

Literal heaven for art enthusiasts, the Galleria Borghese is filled with some of the finest art in all of Rome. Impressive sculptures, beautiful mosaics, wonderfully preserved frescoes and hundreds of prized paintings are all in open display across the gallery's 20 rooms and 2 floors. Assembled first by Cardinal Scipione Borghese in the 17th Century, the Roman Borghese family began a collection of some of the most beautiful art in all of Rome, featuring sculptures and busts from immortalized sculptor Bernini. Despite being housed in the mansion Village Borghese, it has been, for several centuries, one of the earliest recorded public art museums in the world.
