About Basilica di Santa Maria Maggiore

Initially built in the 4th Century, it displays mixed architectural styles of Christian, Renaissance, and Baroque. Within its walls, the Basilica boasts collections over centuries from various popes in different eras. The smooth marble floors, artistic tapestries, mosaics, numerous statues, and paintings have literally made every nook and cranny in the entire basilica, works of art. Basilica di Santa Maria Maggiore or the Basilica of Saint Mary Major is the largest Christian church in Rome dedicated to the Virgin Mary and one of only seven pilgrimage basilicas in the whole world.

How to reach

Metro Lines A and B will be able to take you to the Termini station and then, it is a short walk via Cavour southwest 4 blocks to find the Basilica on your left.
