About M. Chinnaswamy Stadium

Huge and lush green, the stadium was formally known as Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) stadium and was later named as M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in tribute to Mr Manglam Chinnaswami who had served KASA for four-decade. The stadium is in the heart of the city of Bengaluru and has a sitting capacity of around 40,000 people. It not only hosts cricket matches but also musical & cultural events. The stadium has a distinction of being the first stadium in the world to use solar panels to generate the bulk of its electricity needs. The stadium is also house to IPL franchise Royal Challengers, It is Banglore's top class stadium with the latest facilities like even in case of rain and the waterlogging game can be started in 30 mins because it has an international top class drainage system. This stadium has produced some of the greatest and talented cricketers of our country. The main entrance to the stadium for spectators is from the Cubbon Parkside. The stadium has provisions for the commoners to book a day's tour to get an insight into the stadium.  It has provided the greatest and the best cricketers Karnataka has ever produced.  It is a must visit place for cricket and sports lovers.

How to reach

It is 1.0 km from the city center. One can hire a taxi, take a bus, own personal vehicle or go on foot.

One can take the Purple Line metro from Mahatma Gandhi metro station till Cubbon Park, the fare is around 10 Rs, and the frequency is 6 minutes.

Bus number 13 D, 141 E, 141 K, 144, 144-K, 362-C, G-11 can be taken from MG Road. The buses are available every 15 minutes. The ticket would cost around Rs. 5 for this distance.

One can also hire a taxi. Taxi fare starting price is 15 Rs.

  • Tickets should be bought beforehand for matches or you will have to shell out a hefty amount to touts
  • Parking is available
  • One should visit 1-2 hours early before the match starts for smooth entry
  • Photography is allowed
  • One can carry personal water and snacks as these are sold costly inside the stadium
  • One can carry pluck cards to and posters to support their teams
  • Checking is done before entry as a safety measure
  • Throwing of water bottles and empty packets are not allowed in the field
