About ISKCON Temple

It is one of the largest temples in the world and was inaugurated in the year 1997 by Shankar Dayal Sharma. The main shrine which is also called the Rajagopuram has beautiful archways and water fountains. Inside, beautifully ornamented idols of Shri Radhe Krishna adorn the temple. Magnificent and royal the temple is dedicated to Lord Krishna and Radha. Apart from the main shrine separate prayer halls are dedicated to Sri Sri Radha Krishnachandra, Sri Sri Krishna Balarama, Sri Sri Nitai Gauranga, Sri Srinivasa Govinda, and Sri Prahlada Narasimha. A number of festivals are celebrated in the temples complex with great vigor and joy. The temple presents a calm and serene atmosphere and one experiences a great peace of mind in the premises. Morning and evening aartis are very famous worldwide and a large number of people from all over the world gather to attend this holy ritual. It is a vast complex where a large number of cultural programmes are held throughout the year. The chanting of the mantras by the devotees makes a holy atmosphere and creates a spiritual experience for the temple visitors. It is a must visit for religious people.

How to reach

It is 9.0 km from the city center. One can hire a taxi, take a bus, or own personal vehicle.

One can also take a metro till the Mahalakshmi, and Sandal Soap factory metro stations, which are nearest to the temple and just 5 minutes walk from the temple. 

Bus number 80, 80A, 80B, 80E, 80F, 80G, 252F can be taken from Kempegowda Bus Station (Majestic). The buses are available every 15 minutes. 

Bus number  77, 77E can be taken from City Market.

Bus number  79E can be taken from Shivajinagar.

One can also hire a local taxi. Taxi fare starting price is 15 Rs.

 

Tips

  • Photography is not allowed inside the temple
  • Parking is available outside the temple
  • There are a number of stalls outside the temple to buy religious artifacts
  • Visitors can watch Little Krishna Animation Movie in the Animation theatre
  • Visit during the evening time at 7: pm to attend aarti ritual
  • One can attend spiritual workshops in the temple
  • Wear respectful clothes to maintain the dignity of the place
  • Maintain a calm and peaceful behaviour avoid being noisy
