Sucre House is also known as "Blue House" because of its color. The house is a museum in Quito and was established in 1977 by the Ministry of defense. The house is dedicated to the most famous occupants Marshal Antonio Jose de Sucre and his wife Marian Carcelen. The museum consists of their personal belongings. The ground floor contains weapons and military equipment owned by Sucre and the second floor contains their furniture and rooms. Sucre was the one who helped Ecuador gain independence. He was born in Venezuela, but his love for Quito was such that he married a local woman. He was murdered in Columbia when returning from a meeting and after two years of his home establishment. Sucre was proclaimed to be the first President of the Republic of Ecuador and that is the reason the former national currency was named "Sucre" until the year 2000. Also, Bolivia, Venezuela, and Columbia have named places after him as an honor. This attraction is most loved by local people in Quito, because of its owner's history and the role he played.
You can explore things like weapons and military equipment, the furniture, clothing and all other home items used by both Sucre and his wife from the ground and second floor in Sucre House.
The location is just 8 km from the city and can be reached in just 20 to 25 minutes in a car.
