The Pululahua Geobotanical Reserve is the best place to visit if you really love nature. You can admire the beauty of nature in the reserve, it is located very close to the equatorial line and above an active volcano. You can enjoy a peaceful time in the reserve. The Quincha word "Pululahua" means "cloud of water" or "fog." Because of its uniqueness, it was declared as a Geobotanical Reserve. Actually, it was first created as a National Park and later attained the status of Geobotanical Reserve. The main aim of this reserve is to protect the flora, fauna and water resources for future generations. It is a great place with more than 2,000 species of flora, diversity of birds, mammals and an exotic insect species. The best time to visit the reserve is in the morning to completely feel and enjoy nature's beauty. You may even spot plenty of wildlife in the reserve. If you are lucky enough then you can spot rabbits, sparrow hawks, wolves, bats, frogs, raposas and many others. There is a little cafe, a handicraft store, and a clothing store where you can do shopping. The place is worth to visit and you can relax and de-stress yourself when you spend an hour in the natural environment.
There are lots of places to see and enjoy. You can go horseback riding, trekking, or mountain biking in the reserve. Also visit Pondona Hill, the Chivo Rock, El Mirador, and Limestone Kilns.
By taxi or car, it takes 30 minutes to travel to the reserve from the city. Or you can take a bus to Mitad del Mundo and from there reach the reserve.
