The Intinan Solar Museum is located outside of Quito and next right to Mitad del Mundo Monument. The museum is all about the existence of the Equatorial line and the scientific experiments related to the Equator. The founder of the museum is Humbert Vera who initiated a study of the equatorial zone from a scientific point of view. The museum is both entertaining and educational as well. The main feature of this museum is Totemic Forest with totem displays and visitors can learn about the history and meaning of totems. The museum has a number of exhibitions where you can do playful activities as well as scientific activities. It also consists of art exhibitions which are about local artists. You can locate and check yourself by standing on the equatorial line by comparing it with the GPS. The main highlight in this museum other than the Equator is "Solar Chronometer," which is a unique instrument made in 1865 that shows exact astronomical and conventional time including the day, month and season just by using the rays from the Sun. People can visit the indigenous huts of Ecuadorian culture and hunting tools used by Waorani people. Overall this museum offers you great fun and the best option for travelers and tourists.
