The Beijing Ancient Observatory is one of the world's ancient observatories, originally built in 1442 during the Ming Dynasty. It is located in the southwest side of Jianguomen crossroad in Dongcheng District. It is a special museum and has many ancient astronomy exhibits. Its ancillary architectural buildings are also a must see. The observatory is 58 feet high. There are eight sets of ancient bronze astronomical instruments displayed on its platform. The royal astronomical tower enjoys a high reputation as the best observatory in the world and attracts a large number of tourists from all over.
