The Lalbagh Fort is an incomplete structure commissioned by the Mughal Emperor Muhammad Azam. Bibi Pari was the daughter of Shaista Khan, who had succeeded Azam. The mausoleum built for her is decorated with multi-colored tiles and constructed with black basalt from the Rajmahal Hills and marble from Rajputana. The door of the entrance is made of sandalwood and is decorated with Chinese crisscross patterns. The floor of the structure is just as beautiful, featuring fractals made from marble and black stone. The Governor's residence in Lalbagh Fort has an ornamental fountain and tank with warm water for bathing. Lalbagh was designed with a network of secret tunnels, in the event of warfare. Unfortunately, the structure was never fully completed and remained unoccupied and unused for a long time.
Take a cycle-rickshaw from Topkhana Road and ask the driver to take you here. The ride should take you 20 mins and cost 30 TK (4.5KM).
